Grown Up House Dining

This couple was ready, y’all! Ready to trade in the hand-me-down chic aesthetic for a space that is really a reflection of their family. The transformation is SO GOOD. Before the transformation everything was just wood. Table? Wood…. Chairs? Oh hey! Wood! More so than the lack of material mixing, THEY just didn’t love their current look so the time was ripe for change.

This space is absolutely one for the record books for me because it is so full of joy and life just like this family. When we first sat down to talk about the design goals she gave me a few buzz words (Loves all things Serena & Lily, Traditional Home, and Southern Livings Insta Feed) and told me she was sorta into wallpaper right now… and my little designer heart did a few back flips.

The beautiful kitchen was existing to the house when they moved in, so we jazzed it up by pulling colors cues in with the incredible grey and white wallpaper.

The dining room is the first space you see when you walk into this house and we wanted to make the statement that this was a place to hang out and have fun…because this family knows a good time. It’s also kitchen adjacent which means that at any given moment there is a child with peanut butter on its hands and face ready to pounce. Instead of creating a space to stress over, we only chose things that could stand up to the abuse. Less worrying about upholstery = better life.

Mixing patterns creates a space with so much interest!

Rugs with a lot movement are your best friend with its time to hide smudges!

Because two kids is enough to keep alive, this beautiful centerpiece is faux. Hot Tip: gotta get good fakes!
